Key Figures1 Kings 17

3 figures

  1. Elijah

Prophet of God and miracle worker.

Elijah is introduced as a prophet who declares a drought upon Israel as a judgment from God. He is sustained by God through miraculous means, first by ravens and then by a widow in Zarephath. Elijah also performs the miracle of multiplying the widow's oil and flour and later raises her son from the dead.

  2. Widow of Zarephath

Gentile woman who provides for Elijah and witnesses God's provision.

The widow is a key figure in demonstrating God's provision and power. Despite her dire circumstances, she obeys Elijah's request for food, leading to a miraculous supply of oil and flour. Her faith is further tested and rewarded when Elijah raises her son from the dead.
