The Mighty Angel and the Little Scroll
A mighty angel descends from heaven, clothed with a cloud, with a rainbow on his head, his face like the sun, and feet like pillars of fire. He holds a little scroll open in his hand and sets his right foot on the sea and his left on the land, crying out with a loud voice like a lion's roar. Seven thunders respond, but John is instructed not to write down what they said. The angel swears by God, who created heaven and earth, that there will be no more delay, and the mystery of God will be fulfilled. John is then instructed to take the scroll and eat it, finding it sweet in his mouth but bitter in his stomach, symbolizing the bittersweet nature of prophecy.
