1 Samuel Chapter 1 introduces us to the story of Hannah, a woman deeply distressed by her inability to conceive. She is married to Elkanah, who also has another wife, Peninnah, who has borne him children. Peninnah provokes Hannah, leading to her sorrow and anguish. In her desperation, Hannah goes to the house of the Lord at Shiloh and prays fervently, vowing that if God grants her a son, she will dedicate him to the Lord's service for his entire life.
