Divine Judge and Redeemer
In Zephaniah 3, the LORD is depicted as both the judge of the nations and the redeemer of His people. He pronounces judgment on Jerusalem for its rebellion and corruption but also promises restoration and joy for the remnant of Israel.
City under judgment and eventual restoration
Jerusalem is portrayed as a rebellious city deserving of judgment due to its leaders' corruption and the people's disobedience. However, it is also the city that will be purified and restored, becoming a place of joy and righteousness.

The remnant of Israel refers to the faithful few who will be preserved through judgment and will experience God's salvation and joy. They are characterized by humility and trust in the LORD.
