Four Living Creatures
The four living creatures, each with four faces and four wings, represent the fullness of creation and the omnipresence of God’s spirit. Their faces—of a man, lion, ox, and eagle—symbolize humanity, wild animals, domestic animals, and birds, respectively.
These creatures reflect God's sovereignty over all creation and His omnipresence. They also signify the strength, majesty, and wisdom of God’s creation.
In ancient Near Eastern culture, composite creatures often symbolized divine beings or attributes.
