Psalms 132
World English Bible
WEB1A Song of Ascents. Yahweh, remember David and all his affliction, 2how he swore to Yahweh, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob: 3“Surely I will not come into the structure of my house, nor go up into my bed; 4I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids, 5until I find out a place for Yahweh, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.” 6Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah. We found it in the field of Jaar. 7“We will go into his dwelling place. We will worship at his footstool.” 8Arise, Yahweh, into your resting place, you, and the ark of your strength. 9Let your priests be clothed with righteousness. Let your saints shout for joy! 10For your servant David’s sake, don’t turn away the face of your anointed one. 11Yahweh has sworn to David in truth. He will not turn from it: “I will set the fruit of your body on your throne. 12If your children will keep my covenant, my testimony that I will teach them, their children also will sit on your throne forever more.” 13For Yahweh has chosen Zion. He has desired it for his habitation. 14“This is my resting place forever. I will live here, for I have desired it. 15I will abundantly bless her provision. I will satisfy her poor with bread. 16I will also clothe her priests with salvation. Her saints will shout aloud for joy. 17I will make the horn of David to bud there. I have ordained a lamp for my anointed. 18I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on himself, his crown will shine.”

Overview
Psalms 132 is a beautiful reflection on God's promise to David and the significance of Zion as His chosen dwelling place. The psalm begins with a heartfelt plea, recalling the dedication and commitment of King David to find a resting place for the Lord. David made a vow to the Lord, expressing his desire to build a house for the Ark of the Covenant, which symbolizes God's presence among His people (#David, #Zion). This sets the stage for the psalm's focus on the importance of worship and the sacredness of God's dwelling.
The psalmist then recounts God's response to David's dedication, affirming His covenant with David and promising that his descendants would sit on the throne forever. This promise is a profound reminder of God's faithfulness and the eternal nature of His covenant (#Covenant, #Faithfulness). The psalm emphasizes that God has chosen Zion as His dwelling place, highlighting the significance of Jerusalem in God's redemptive plan. The psalm concludes with a declaration of blessings upon Zion, assuring that God will bless her inhabitants and provide for their needs. This chapter serves as a powerful reminder of God's presence, His promises, and the importance of worshiping Him in the place He has chosen.
